Ultrasonic treatment of kidney stones?
Hey everybody,
I was wondering at what frequency (hz) and what level (decibels) are used to break apart kidney stones, I believe the technical name for the treatment Is “Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy” or ESWL.
Also what frequency (hz) level (decibels) would be needed to reproduce the ‘smashing’ outside the body on a (probably less dense) analogue.
Would it be possible to demonstrate with maybe with like a “Kellogg’s crunchy nut cluster” (they look soooo much like kidney stones it’s not funny) and a mass array of store brought “Ultrasonic Dog Trainer/ Chaser” thingos. The one I found operates at: 20,000 to 25,000Hz and a level of 110 to 115 decibels
Thanks so much for your time!!!
Should be an easy one for all the Urologists out there ![]()
Thanks “David D” but I know how it works.
What I need to know is what I asked in the question!!!!
If you don’t know about the first part of the question DW, want I really need to know is:
“Would it be possible to demonstrate with maybe with like a “Kellogg’s crunchy nut cluster” (they look soooo much like kidney stones it’s not funny) and a mass array of store brought “Ultrasonic Dog Trainer/ Chaser” thingos. Come on everyone!!! I really need to know it is possible to recreate kidney stone eradication outside the body using these Dog trainer things… and if so how many would I need. I reckon I could place the “zappers” in zip lock bag and the kidney stone analogue in like cling rap for use under water.
Any help on this subject would be massively appreciated as I need to know before this Wednesday!!!!!!!!!
Once again the output for “dog trainers” are (20,000 to 25,000Hz) at a level of 110 to 115 decibels.
