My boyfriend and I have 2 siberian huskies, 1 irish wolfhound and 2 cats, which all somehow picked up fleas. We’ve started adding in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in with every bowl of water that gets drank, but when does it take effect?
I’ve been reading up on chemical free ways to clean pet stains, and a very interesting article came to my attention. The author uses a spray bottle with a white vinegar solution to spray her dogs for fleas. She recommends spraying them down after a bath and letting them dry. She claims it will deter any fleas and condition the coat. Has anyone tried it? I would love to think it may actually work! We have small children, so the fewer the chemicals in our home the better we feel. Thanks in advance!
Well, we use Frontline and Sentinel right now, and we treat our yard, but I would love to get away from putting the chemical directly on the dog. It’s hard to keep them totally away from fleas because not every park or place we go sprays for them.
I have been researching that garlic is good and bad for dogs. I gave just one garlic clove with some vienies to my dog that is a year old to repel ticks and fleas. Is this a good idea? Is this a bad idea? What do you think will happen? I’ll take any advice. Thanks.
She is on Bio-spot but the fleas still jump on her and bite her, then die. I want to repel them as well. Any ideas? I herd lemon juice and that vinegar repels and soothes the skin. But my boyfriend hates the smell. So can I mix the two and spray it on a dog with bio-spot?
What are some ways to repel fleas? That are safe for the dog and to use around kids? I dont have to spend every month just on flea killers that dont work.
Bell & Howell have some out that claim to repel ants, roaches, rats, mice, by just plugging them into an electrical outlet, also Good Life and Black & Decker puts them out. They ‘say’ not to use them if you have hamsters, gerbils, etc, but that they are safe for dogs & cats. I wish they’d make something like this for fleas, However, they are not all that inexpensive but if they work, they’d be worth their weight in gold, not to have an exterminator come every month for at least . We live in South Florida so here, it is a necessity to have pest control, and Florida is just one big ant hill as it is. If you have used these, please tell me.
With the price of gasoline, we have decided to vacation close to home, hiking and camping. We would like to take our dogs with us and I was wondering, what do you use on your dogs to repel mosquitoes and ticks? We live in an area with no fleas, so that’s not a problem.
Yes, we are going to talk to our vet, but I wanted to know what you all recommended. Thanks!

I need a product or treatment that will REPEL fleas from my dog.
She is allergic to even ONE flea bite and it will make her itch uncontrollable for weeks.
Frontline does not work to repel them, it just kills them and they still get bites in.
same with Zodiac and Biospot.
We have no fleas in our house and there are non on her but I think she gets bit outside.
Flea collars are useless for big dogs. Also most treatments for dogs including frontline out a pesticide into the dogs blood stream and when the flea ingests it AFTER biting the dog, the flea dies. Therefore it is not repelling the fleas and my dog is still being bit.
